July OMG - grey/purple/blue stripes

This blanket has grown a bit since I began it in January 2018 (ish)  This month I will darn in the ends!

I made some progress already:

June OMG - June Quilt

This was from 2 years ago: pattern from crazy mom quilts' QAL.

My goal is to cut out 17 squares for the cornerstones (4 1/2") {and the setting triangles: four 7" squares cut into quarter triangles) from plain black, and to sew 20 strip sets (4 1/2" x 8 1/2" unfinished; need 48 for the lap quilt size) from black and white fabrics.  I have 4 ish so far, but lots of smaller bits sewn together.

The big squares and setting triangles in turquoise are already cut out, started at a class at my LQS.

May OMG - done

Ta da!

This was mostly fun to piece together, but I wish that I hadn't made it more complicated by using 5 solids (instead of just the one...)

May OMG - Mostly Modern

This month, I want to make a picnic blanket; backed with denim  or canvas or something sturdy.  We're having a sports day at work on the 22nd, but since I don't do sports-ball, I need something to sit on under a tree so I can read a book or knit.  :P

This fabric is from a few years back; pattern is called "Mostly Modern" from Back Porch Fabric in Pacific Grove.  Gail's demo was the same feature fabric but with just navy.  I added lime green, aqua, orange, and purple.  <3

April OMG - done

I couldn't sleep last night, so... I made good use of my time:

It feels good to be caught up with the ends!  And I got to add two more rows in purple, on the left side below:

Now I need to keep the sides even...  :P

April OMG - crazy stripes (again)

Craft-wise, last month didn't go very well, mostly due to me being grumpy.  Even though I know that making things puts me in a happy frame of mind, grumpiness makes me not want to create...

But I did get one side darned in last month, so that's something!

Part of me thinks that my reluctance to darn in these ends is a metaphor for my life.  I don't like leaving the ends all tangled up, but it's more fun to add new rows than it is to tidy up the past...  But a blanket isn't finished until the ends are darned in, or the binding sewn down.  With the hectic nature of life, you don't always get to go back and finish up the UFOs that you cast aside/misplaced/forgot about...

Starve your fears and distractions.
 Feed your passion.

I'd like to break this bad habit of moving on too quickly, so I'm keeping this as my OMG for April and linking up with Patty of Elm Street Quilts.  I started this blanket in April of 2014.

march OMG - crazy stripes

More ends to darn in, because I don't like this part and I need the external motivation:

this is what I've done since November 2018

Feb OMG - Done!

This was an easy and quick project, with just enough thinking to keep me engaged.

I'm amused that they came out slightly different sizes.  And next time, I will cut out all the pieces before sewing them together!  I've decided that I like a smaller flange and I want to practice more to make it more even...!

Feb OMG - pillowcases x2

I need something simple this month, since I am distracted by other things.  I bought this fabric back in January 2018 to make pillowcases.  So, let's do this!

January OMG - Indian Summer scarf

I bought this yarn years ago at the Wool Gathering in Ohio.  The plan was to make a scarf, but it has been re-worked several times...

I've carried it with me several places; I even hand carried it in my luggage to Korea.  I made some progress on it in November (undoing the bits I didn't like; will look for those pics) but set it aside in the naughty pile because I really didn't want to deal with the ends.

Well, it is Shelly's birthday on the 18th and I want to get this project crossed off my list.  Need to get it done sooner, since it will take time to mail!

Measured at 36 ish inches yesterday when I took this:

And it was 43 ish when I finished my coffee this morning!  Progress!  My goal is to finish this scarf and mail it off.  Bonus points if I get it to her by the 18th.
